Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Native CT/New Haven pizza eater here. Got the Staven and it lived up to my expectations. Perfect balance of cheese and toppings. Crust was thick enough but still crispy. Added the calamari to meet the delivery minimum and that was a disappointment. I hate when my food is underseasoned but this was way too salty. I couldn't finish them and I'm afraid to check my blood pressure. Wish I had time to try more pies. Delivery also came quicker than expected but I'm less than a mile from the restaurant.

This place is close to my job so I'm here often. But every time I visit the quality gets worse and worse. Cold food , burnt pizza, and a nonchalant chef named Ben. I'm literally addicted to pizza so my standards aren't too high but I can't overlook the management here. When I told the chef my food was cold he said "sorry" and shrugged. My friend orders two slices of pizza and one was cold and the other burnt. Shame. You should never tarnish the deliciousness of pizza.

Pete's feels like a specifically Washingtonian institution to me at this point, so it's a bit odd to see one in the suburbs (the close suburbs, to be fair). This one's up to snuff, though. The dining area is large and airy; the windows only offer a view of an urban alley, but it's a nice place inside. There's a parking garage across the street; I don't know the pricing scheme but my short visit was free. Like all Pete's, they're setting the standard in dealing with special dietary considerations, having clearly marked, plentiful, and appealing vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Their rendition of the awesome East Rock (Pete's' white pizza) was perhaps the most charred I've had (that's a compliment). The desserts at Pete's are shamelessly on display and always hard to pass up. They also have characteristically diverse employees and clientele, and a general positive vibe. I'll not likely be at this one again simply because I'm closer to and a regular at the DC locations, but for anyone in the area this is a good meal. Prices are not low; signing up for their email list for deals can make it worthwhile.

Love the crisp crust and the creative flavors on the pizzas. Try the Edge of the woods!

This pizza is awesome. My girlfriend is from new haven and as a frequent visitor of new haven myself have tried the best they offer from modern to Pepes. The pizza there is much better then what we get in the dmv. However Pete's is awesome. She loves it, I love it, it really is much better. Pricey but worth every penny

Pay attention to the name - this is New Haven-style pizza ("apizza", as they style it), which you'll find is a lot different than Papa Johns or Pizza Hut. Expect chewy crusts cooked hot and fast with smoky, bubbly, oven-burned accents; bold, tangy flavors; and real meats, seafoods, veggies, and cheeses - not mass-produced Pepperoni-flavored Sausage Product. It's not for everyone (apparently), but if you're prepared for something a little different, Pete's is a must-order. Start with the "New Haven" (white pizza with clams and garlic) to home in on the best representative of the style, or the "Staven" if your tastes run decidedly "Meat Lover's." "The Coliseum" and "Long Wharf" are my go-to's, and they'll be yours as well, once you're ready. Dining in can be hit-or-miss (hence the missing 5th star) - the allocation of the friendly and competent staff heavily favors the kitchen and prep but less so the dining room or the bar counter, "semi-self-serve" is a dining style that leaves a lot of patrons confused at first, and it's a popular place for families with small kids who have apparently mistaken it for a Chuck-E-Cheese. But it's all worth it for the piping hot crispiness of a Pete's pie, since this style holds up less well on delivery. (There's a curbside takeout option as well.) Still, though, I'd take a bad Pete's at my door over the best Papa John's any day of the week.

Major disappointment. I've been here 3 times and each seems to dwindle. Last night I ordered a pizza margherita for carry-out. I picked it up on time and only live 5 minutes from the restaurant. When I got it home, it was cold, tough and chewy. I want to support this business as it uses all natural, locally sourced ingredients, but to pay $21 for a medium-sized pizza margherita that was substandard at best is asking too much.

This pizza was fantastic, cooked perfectly. The flavor was top notch! The only gripe I have is that they won't deliver to my area of DC even though we are less than 10 minutes away. But for $28, it was some of the best pizza I've ever had. Kudos Pete's!
(5)Nicole R.
I would say this is the worst pizza I have ever tasted. I don't know what the other reviewers have tried but the Wooster Square pizza was just simply bad. It had a very bitter flavor to it and the crust was way to chewy. Maybe some of the other options are good but $26 for an 18 inch pizza, I was expecting it to be great. Not worth it because I threw out half the pizza that night. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Let me start by saying I'm a big pizza lover. I had high hopes for this place. We usually frequent Pacci's Pizza in Silver Spring, but I'm all for expanding my horizons. We ordered delivery and the delivery guy forgot to give us one of our pizzas. I had to call the shop to have him turn around and drop off the missing pizza. By that time, everything was pretty much cold, and no, I don't want to take the time to warm everything up in a skillet as suggested by the instructions on the box. I don't want to cook/turn on the stove, that's why I ordered take out. And here's what we had: Metro North - this was the best one of our order. Creamy ricotta melding with carmelized onions and pork. It was a bit one note, so if we go back, I would order this on only half a pizza, as it was a bit much after a slice. The crust was not to my preference, too thick and tough, but I guess that's the typical crust of a New Haven Pizza. Margarita - this was not a margarita pizza! It was a below average cheese pizza mis-named! There was no fresh mozzerella - just cheese and sauce melted on the too thick and tough crust with a minimal sprinkling of fresh, chopped basil. It looked like one of those mall personal pizzas or a school lunch pizza. I had ordered this for my three year old because Pacci's margarita pizza is her favorite. She actually started crying when she saw the Pete's pizza and could not be consoled. Even my three year old knows what a margarita pizza should look like. We had to make a quick run to Pacci's to satiate her - even though they don't deliver, it takes them 10 minutes if you online order. Heirloom apple salad - this would have been stellar, but about 1/3 of the lettuce was wilted and inedible. The apple/nut part was good. Hence the two starts. I doubt we will go back because my three year old is apparently a pizza aficionado.

So Pete's namesake item... pizza, yes, pizza, is good. My wife and I like the Arugula pizza, and the Boola Boola is pretty tasty too. The dining room is huge, plenty of room for a large party, with tall windows opening to downtown Silver Spring around 1/2 the restaurant. I also tried a sorbillo one time, a pizza turnover with fresh sauce, cheese, and sausage inside, and it was decent, though I prefer the pizza. I have been disappointed though twice, once with the very hard cookies that were all crunch and no taste, and another time when the soda machine, which is a very nice specialty sugar cane soda dispenser (Pucks, I think?), was out of CO2 and all of a sudden lemonade was the only thing they had to drink, though the manager did offer us an off brand bottle of soda to try and make up for it.
(3)Marisa M.
They have delicious pizza! They are a little pricey but well worth it. The Silver Spring location is very laid back and a great place to go for dinner. Check Groupon for deals!
(4)Abstract C.
Excellent service and huge pizzas. There is a parking garage right next to the shop as well...so that's another thumbs up for convenience. Friendly knowledgeable staff as well. I never tasted eggplant before so Ben (I think that's his name) gave me a sample...n I loved it. They also let you split toppings in half to try different flavors. The music is awesome as well. If you love flat pizza. Come here. A+
(5)Greg M.
In Silver Spring on business, I met a friend here from NYC who was able to interpret what CT pizza is. Two slices of pepperoni made me a fan. Crusted perfectly with a strong herby cheese blend, I patted down some of the copious grease...er flavoring and enjoyed every last bite. The prices were at first off-putting - this place fancies itself on the upper end of pie purveyors - but after we expressed some surprise the friendly staff pointed out that the dinner menu was up - for lunch people ordered by the slice or lunch plates - much more reasonable. I had several interactions with the staff and they were each very friendly and personable - easy to talk to. I asked some questions about their model and they were very forthcoming. An unexpected but welcome surprise was their beverage vendor - apparently a CT favorite. Their sodas were both different and very good. Granola-head sodas - I'm used to that as a west coaster and found it a welcome advantage of this place. I'll definitely be back - perhaps for the full experience at dinnertime.

I really want to like this place and I did at first. We have ordered take out from Pete's at least 5 or 6 times in the past few months and the quality has really plummeted. The toppings are essentially non-existent. Ordered a New Haven and there were approximately 5 clams on the entire large pizza. The worst part is that the pizza was so incredibly dry, it was like consuming a pizza-flavored cracker. I hate a soggy pizza but I like at least SOME moisture. I gave the crust to my dog and it sounded like he was eating a bone. Not good.
(1)Michelle D.
My workplace ordered from Pete's today, and I ate slices that had sausage and pepperoni on them. First, the positives: I was really impressed by the sauce and meat quality. The meat, especially the sausage, was cooked almost to perfection, and the sauce was savory. But now, the negative: The crust was very overcooked. I can appreciate a crispy crust as much as the next person, but this one was very brittle and not very flavorful, which was disappointing, considering how delicious the actual pizza was.
(3)Khamari S.
Okay the pizza is decent overall but no where near best I've ever had. THEY BURN THE CRUST so if u like soft crust you not getting it here :(
(2)Andrew M.
To be fair, this place is probably more like 3.5 stars and I would go back. Pros: --Nice service (especially considering it's not a table-service type of place) --Great beer selection (for a smallish pizza shop w/o table service)... lots of local and craft stuff --Kid-friendly --They make for great fundraising partners --Nice selection of toppings (and "locally sourced" ingredients, if you care about that sort of thing---which I'm somewhat ambivalent about when it comes to pizza toppings... am slightly more interested if it's a whole steak or rack of lamb or something) --Decent selection of apps Cons: --Pizza seemed a little dry (though otherwise ok... not outstanding, but certainly respectable) --Prices seemed a little on the high side to me (one large pizza, two beers, a slice of cheese pizza, and a small appetizer came to $52 with tax) Also, if this place is full, it's pretty loud inside.

As someone who was born and raised in New Haven, let me warn you - ***THIS IS NOT NEW HAVEN STYLE PIZZA!**** While the pizza is good, it sure isn't New Haven style or quality. New Haveners take our pizza seriously, and lemme tell you...this is not even close to the pies we love! Now that I got that off my chest, let me continue my review... I ordered a large mozzarella pizza. Delivery was fast enough. The pizza was very average...there was nothing about it that really stood out from other pizza's I have had in the area. It was good, but not special. CON - The price is OUTRAGEOUS. Let me give you an example... Pepe's is the grandfather of New Haven pizza, and he sells his large motz pie for $15...Pepe's sets the standard for New Haven pizza, and in my opinion he also sets the price. So why is this place, that isn't even close to as good, way more expensive? Ridiculous. If the food was cheaper, I'd buy it again. But I'm not going to shell out extra bucks for average pizza. I take my pies, and my wallet, seriously and will be checking out other local pizzerias instead of this.

New Haven Style pizza available in downtown Silver Spring AND for delivery to my front door- I HAVE BEEN DELIVERED!!! This New Haven native has been waiting for Pete's to open for months and today they finally did! The space is absolutely gorgeous inside- about triple the size of the Columbia Heights location. Its in walking distance from SS metro and there's plenty of parking on the street or in the Wayne street garage- pretty convenient. They also have the lunch special: two slices and a drink or a slice, a side salad and a drink for about $8! I couldn't be happier. Pete's Apizza IS authentic New Haven style right down to the extra crispy crust. I didn't notice if they had the Foxon Park soda (manufactured in East Haven, CT) that is quintessential compliment for any slice back home but I'll be sure to check for that next time. Ecstatic for REAL pizza in downtown Silver Spring!!
(5)Omar R.
Good pizza but bad service. I ordered a couple of slices last week. They seemed to be taking a long time to warm up so I asked the person behind the counter how long it was supposed to take. He seemed confused so I am guessing he forgot about the order. He went to the kitchen and brought back two burnt pieces. I just looked at him because I couldn't believe he expected me to take them. I told him they were burnt. He said he would get me new slices and after a few minutes I got them. They were good but in that time I could have ordered a whole pizza.
(2)Sarah B.
How have I not yet reviewed Pete's? These guys make the tastiest pizzas. If you like to stick to the basics, you won't be disappointed with the savory flavors and crunchy/chewy crust. However, for the more adventurous, Pete's really shines in their unique topping combinations. My favorites are the Wooster Square with spicy cured meat and broccoli rabe, and the Penn North white pizza with pulled pork and house cured panchetta. If you plan to dine in with friends, check out the appetizers and the beer selections. Both change regularly, whether seasonally or by month.
(5)James P.
Best pizza in downtown SS.... because all the other options are Nat'l chains like Pizza Hut, Papa John's and Dominos. Delivery service is good. Tough location to drive by and pick up. Parking garage across the street is good if you are dining in, but not for take out. Be advised - delivery times can be an hour + due to popularity and location. Food is excellent. Pizza options are diverse, and that's because they offer really wonderful toppings - not your standard fare. Service is weird. The model they use - pay first and then go sit down and wait for food, but without a waiter - makes it hard to have a couple beers and hang out. It creates kind of an awkward meal of constantly getting up and sitting down. If I was management, I would go to a server/waiter model and skip the ordering at the counter. It's never busy enough to be a problem anyway.

A recent day off afforded me a wonderful mid-week outing to Silver Spring, and I was finally able to check out Pete's Silver Spring location. I've been a pretty big fan of the Tentleytown location, although I must admit that I frequent it almost exclusively when I have a Groupon. I was pleasantly surprised with the large space and the booths - although the one we sat in was clearly designed by someone who hasn't realized that most Americans are not skinny. I definitely know of quite a few people who would not comfortably fit into said booth. The one thing I adore about Pete's (other than the gluten-free offerings, of course) is the anitpasti platter. The contents change every month, thus they are seasonal and - in my experience - always delicious. Some of the flavor combinations are unexpected. This month's platter featured the following: 1. Roasted beets, pickled apples, caraway-cider vinaigrette (GF; vegan); 2. Cauliflower, raisin, and caper salad with slivered almonds (GF; vegan); 3. Potato and rutabaga salad with tarragon-almond mayo (GF); 4. Wine-braised mushroom panzanella salad (vegetarian). Because the last one was not gluten-free, I opted for an extra serving of the roasted beets. I enjoyed all three selections. If you've not tried the antipasti before, I highly suggest doing so! They offer a small $5 version - perfect for one person, or a larger $10 size. On the pizza - the g-f pie I had here was crispier and thus tastier than I've often experienced at Wisconsin Avenue location.I chalk it up to having been baked a bit longer. Overall, Pete's is a very good lunch or dinner option in downtown Silver Spring.

This is a fresh ingredient pizza place that claims to get 90% of their supplies from local farms.... They do an OK job overall, but I'm not exactly sure I'll be dreaming of rushing back for more.... I almost felt like they try so hard to make the pizza 'different' that they forget some of the basic balances... You know: enough sauce to be tasted, rather than painting red.... The theme is : Pizza styles from New Haven, CT. I'm not a fan of the New England Mashed Potato pizza at all, but others liked it. I guess I'm just a purist when it comes to pizza; don't mess with the basics.
(3)Alex D.
They got pretty good pizzas but the last two time we tried delivery both came cold pizza. Not gonna order delivery again.
(3)Brett M.
I was born and raised in New Haven, CT and I am a pizza snob as are most of the people who grew up in that area. I recoiled in horror when friends offered to call Dominos, Pizza Hut, or Papa Johns to order pizza when I first moved down here ten years ago. I think Pete's is pretty spot on for what New Haven style pizza tastes like, however, what I like so much about them is that they offer pizzas that I never even heard of and couldn't get in New Haven anyways. The Edge of the Woods is by far one of the best pizzas I've ever had. My family came down to visit (all pizza snobs) and raved about the Edge of the Woods. I think it was bold to name it after New Haven pizza, but the name is also what attracted me to it so I'm glad they did name it that way. But I also think other people are overly critical of it because it is named after New Haven and many people remember the pizza there differently than it really is. If there was a taste test, I don't think many of the skeptics on here would be able to tell the difference between a Petes and Pepes. It did not get 5 stars because my family is in the pizza industry and it is the most profitable food item to sell. The markup is insane and thats when they are being sold for $15 for a large pie. Here, the $20 to $25 a pie is ridiculous, gluten-free, egg-free, or whatever else-free options you have couldn't even justify the price being this high.
(4)Tim B.
Not quite authentic new haven style based on my experiences up there but very good pizza nonetheless. I appreciated the friendly service and meaningful input on menu selection. Go for the oyster options... Chicken was dry as with most pizzas. Style of the cheese and toppings and oils felt just like home in new haven but the crust was not quite right in terms of that super hi heat oven effect.
(4)Nina S.
We've ordered pizza from Pete's in Silver Spring several times over the last year. At first, it was great - wonderful crust and the toppings are fresh and sometimes even innovative. The last two times has been horrible. They are now skimping on the mozzarella and on the toppings - there was barely any of either on our pizza. And it's not cheap - especially not for what was basically crust with some pizza sauce. Won't be going here again.
(1)Annie S.
If this were the Friendship Heights location I would have given it 5 stars. We had a groupon for this location so we decided to give it a shot. For starters when we walked in I noticed that there were fruit flies all over the place - needless to say that didn't make me anxious to eat there. We ordered the EastRock white pizza and it was ok but they over cooked it and put very little sauce on it. The goat cheese salad was tasty but could've used a bit more dressing. Then it was time for dessert, we ordered cannoli but after the first bite we realized that instead of sugar in the filling they put salt - oops! It was pretty bad and instead of bitching on Yelp we should've returned them for a refund. Oh well, live and learn. I highly recommend the Friendship Heights location it's absolutely perfect pizza and it's very clean and organized.

Great place... Until you have a problem. Pete's has been one of our favorite places since it opened in silver spring. Whenever we have family in town, we always take them here. We love the new, clean space and yummy pizzas with interesting toppings. Tonight we stopped by for a dinner with out with our 2 year old and 3 month old -- a rare treat since our baby was born. We ordered a couple of pizzas and used a groupon towards the total. While we were waiting it started to feel like an eternity, but to be fair waiting any length of time while trying to entertain a toddler and a baby in a restaurant can feel like an eternity. It was only when a couple came in and sat down next to us and got their pizzas that I realized we really had been waiting a long time (like 40 minutes -- and it wasn't busy). I went up to the counter and asked to check on our order for table 31. The guy asked what I had ordered and I told him two small pizzas and a slice. He asked for my receipt, so I went back to my table and got my credit card slip. He looked at it and said there was no way I ordered two pizzas since it was only for $7.xx. I explained that we had used a groupon and that was the balance. He said ok and took the receipt back and showed it to (who I assume was) the manager who was looking on their order screen for our order and he had the same reaction -- no way we had two pizzas for that price. C'mon guys! You really think I'm going to lie about my order? You had on your screen regardless, so why did I even need to bring over my receipt? And did no one notice the family in the corner with no food for 40 minutes? Once they acknowledge that after the groupon my total was correct, they did offer to bring us a couple slices while we waited for them to make our pizzas. That was nice. But I would have much rather not been made to feel like I was lying or trying to rip them off or something. It left me with a real sour feeling, and I remembered that on a past visit I had overheard the staff dealing with an unsatisfied customer and thinking what a horrible job they were doing. So bottom line, as long as everything goes smoothly, I love this place. But their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I'm not sure we will be back because the pizzas at the new Mod Pizza just around the corner are great and it is a better location.
(2)Tracy P.
Love this place. Best pizza in Silver Spring. So many options for toppings and it is always delicious. I have eaten there twice, dining in both times. I think it would be best to eat it at the restaurant. They have their own soda machine, it's not Coke or Pepsi, they have Black Cherry Cola, Cream Soda, Lemon Lime, Sugar Cane Cola, etc. It tastes soooo good!
(5)LJ M.
Second time here. The crust is crunchy, unlike the raw dough you're served elsewhere in the area. The sausage and mushroom slices I got were better than expected coming from a "single slice" dispenser. Really impressed with this place.
(5)Sara M.
I love Pete's... and the newest location is no exception to this! Their New Haven clam pizza is my favorite, though the chef's special can be interesting depending on what it happens to be. Last night, it had pepperoni, spicy sausage, caramelized onions, cherry peppers, and roasted garlic - yum! I stay out of the thick-versus-thin debate by loving both, and Pete's makes a really crispy, flavorful thin crust. What I also love about Pete's is that their menu doesn't stop with pizza. They have a great range of appetizers and salads. The Arancini are delicious little rice balls with a flavor-of-the-month. The calamari are usually perfectly cooked, with a ridiculously light breading and chopped olives and tomatoes. The antipasti rotates but isn't your usual selection - last night, the large plate featured a cabbage-apple salad, a lovely fall potato salad, squash with peanuts and kale, and red and golden beet sticks. They also have a broad selection of desserts, including gelato. The pistachio cannoli was rich and creamy. They carry Puck's cane sugar sodas, along with tea and lemonade, and have a decent wine and beer list. I got a seasonal honeycrisp apple sangria last night... and proclaimed, "I could drink this all day!" My dining companion said that I probably shouldn't. Oh well. This location is really convenient, right at the corner of Georgia and Wayne with a huge parking garage just across the street that's free many evenings. It's a nice, large location with plenty of tables. They have a somewhat unusual system of numbers and tables - each table has a number on it, and when you order you receive a number that matches one of them. They ask if you'd like a table or booth, but you're effectively assigned a table (or I guess you could ask for a specific available table by number). The staff are all very friendly, and service was quite prompt.
(5)Amy P.
First time we've had Petes pizza. Have been meaning to check it out for a while. Great crispy crust pizza. And they have kalamata olives which is my favorite topping. It is a bit expensive but understandable since it is all organic. Good side salad too-- great cheese and usually I don't eat croutons but these were great. Will most definitely get again.
(5)Ben O.
Pete's is now my go to pizza place for pizza in downtown silver spring. It's high quality, fast casual dining with a great selection of pizzas. The price is a little high but I think overall you get what you pay for
(5)Skyler K.
Good, crusty pizza. The sauce is nice, not too sweet. The pizza showed up not especially hot. Not cold... but not hot. I really liked all the veggie toppings except for the fried eggplant. SO GROSS. The eggplant is cut into thin slivers (like bacon) and completely soaked in oil. It didn't taste like eggplant at all, just old gross oil. They should just put chunks of roasted eggplant on the pizza, instead of weird oil soaked eggplant-bacon.
(3)Tim B.
Curbside pickup had me waiting at the curb with two screaming children for 20 minutes!
(2)Ahmad S.
I went because I heard such great things about this pizza place. In fact, a friend of mine from CT even said that this place had the best New Haven style pizza outside of New Haven. I'm no pizza expert, but I do love my pizza. I like to think my palate is refined enough to ascertain quality pizza. I'm not sure what the hype was about, but this pizza was decidedly average. I wish the cashier had been more helpful in the pizza selection process, since the pizzas were very different than a normal place. The eggplant on the veggie pizza was just crunchy, brown, piled on things. Made eating the pizza a bit tough, and had I known it would come out like that, I probably wouldn't have ordered it. The other pizza seemed alright, but didn't eat it since it had meat on it. They offer a nice discount for school teachers and faculty, so that was definitely good. I may give this place one more go, but I can't say I was impressed.
(3)Lorenzo G.
This place is ok- I don't find anything special in their pizza, salads are ok, the Caesar dressing taste like the one from McDonald. Super price for the quality you get, avoid this place cause ain't work & I don't think they use farms products, after my second time here and spending $80 for dinner, simple pizza and a few salads, 2 beers. No return, no thanks!

Order from here!!! My delivery was average for a rush hour order. Absolutely amazing pizza -- hands down the best in Silver Spring. The cheese is real cheese and not the pizza "cheese" blend you get from so many other places... You can taste every ingredient. I will absolutely order here again and recommend to others!

Decided to order from them as a result of a special. Customer service was good except for the first delivery guy. He was odd and when I gave him a twenty for an 11 dollar pizza he just turned to walk off I had too call him back and get him to understand that I needed change back. When I opened the pizza it wasn't what I ordered. It was good all the same. What made me give them an extra star? They called to apologize for giving me the wrong pizza and sent me another pie on the house! This delivery guy was very sweet about it all. So now I'm on pizza overload but happy with the cheesy goodness and kind pizza folk! I shall go back to them... which will be a while with all this pizza I have stuffed in my freezer!

really poor customer service for placing an order! Had to repeat myself several times-- lady asked me to spell some really basic words! surprising for a place that charges loads for their pizzas.

This place has the best customer service and not to mention the pizza is supper delish

Go to Pacci! They don't have a wood burning oven.

We've ordered from here a bunch of times. I really like the pizzas (pick your own toppings and the set options) although they're pretty expensive. I get that they're using better and more varied ingredients than Papa John's or other chains, but $50 for two 14" pizzas and a salad is a little ridiculous. I also really like the salads, but they are small--you have to get the large if you plan to feed more than one person. We mostly have done take-out--eating in isn't great. There's no real atmosphere and you have to bus your own table. However. We've had issues twice when we've ordered take-out. Once, we were told that it would be 45-50 minutes and it ended up taking more than an hour. I get it, Saturdays are busy, but that was annoying. But last week, we were told 20-25 minutes. Got there 20 minutes later, and waited 20 more minutes before finally asking someone what was going on. Five minutes later, someone finally came over and told us that they hadn't started on our pizzas yet (!) and would put them in right away. Um, no. It was 9:00 at that point, I wasn't going to wait another 20+ minutes (on top of the 45 minutes that had already passed since we placed the order). The manager, Nelson, took my name and number and promised a gift card for my inconvenience, but it's been a week and I haven't heard from him. I'm bummed, because I really liked the food there, but based on these last two experiences we won't be going back. Update: I got a call from Nelson after he saw my review. Apparently I get a credit, not a gift card. I'm sure we'll use it, because as I said I do like the food--just not on a night we need to eat in a hurry.

I would consider this a fine asset to the already bustling downtown Silver Spring area. I've eaten at the Pete's in Arlington a few times before (and enjoyed it) so the opening of this new location in DTSS gets a warm welcome from me. The pizzas are unique and there are so many other options to choose from if you're in the mood for something else. Since this restaurant was just recently opened, I believe I saw 2 managers overseeing the kitchen and dining room. The set up is slightly different than the Arlington location: you still order and pay at the counter but here they provide you with a number that is already placed at a table. I think I actually prefer this to selecting your own seat because there isn't a fight to get the "best" table in the house. Not that there actually is one, since they don't have outdoor seating, but it's ok. I'll just do my people watching elsewhere. Anyway, I had a slice of the New Haven pizza (white pizza with clams, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, pecorino romano, and oregano). It had a strong clam flavor (yay!) but I was still able to taste the other ingredients. The clams are whole so you get meaty bites of bivalves as opposed to chopped clams in every bite. I also had the bibb salad with artichokes, which was good, but part of me wishes I opted for the crispy goat cheese salad instead. Next time. I doubt I'd try any of the pastas - although since they get fresh clams in for the pizza, I'm curious as to why they don't serve a clam pasta. The Captain ordered the Down-the-Hill pizza (Sliced Meatball, House-made Sausage, Caramelized Onion, Roasted Peppers, Wild Mushrooms and Kalamata Olives) and I sampled a slice. It was tasty and the slices of sausage were large. Or maybe that was a meatball. I can't remember. Finally, if you're going to have some beer, I believe it's cheaper to get a pitcher. Wine is also an option and the soda fountain is Puck's - so don't get pissy if you can't have coke or pepsi.

I was catching up on reviews and updating our summer bucket list recently and Pete's came up as a must try. Friday night was date night and I was on a mission. Pete's ah-BEETZ! We are old so even though we're in Metro DC and not south Florida, we go out EARLY i.e. no crowds even on Friday night. You order standing on line and get a number and a table assigment and then get your drinks and wait - BRIEFLY. The reviews I read indicated that the Silver Spring location serves calamari and that is one of my old stand by's to test a restaurant - if the calamari is reviewed or advertised as being good, it better be good. It was tasty. The best I ever had? No but come on; I was in Silver Spring Maryland not the shore somewhere. I BARELY got my okole in place at the table and plates and cutlery were brought by. If the waitress introduced herself; I didn't pick up on that nuance. BOOM and the calamari was delivered - FREAKY FAST (I know; wrong restaurant). A bit of time for some people watching and enjoying my tasty if not AH-mazing calamari. The pizza was delivered super fast as well and while I couldn't tell you what kind of pizza it was (my husband ordered), it was ever so tasty. Next time, *I* will do the ordering as there are multiple enticing combos that I want to try. The salads are creative and not fresh out of the BAG. The soft drinks are Foxon Park and San Pelligrino as well as beer and wine - Nice! We tried two different desserts a lime tart and a house made cookie that are all made in house. MMMMM....Not too big; not too small...just right! Yes, I can see that many visits to Pete's ah-BEETZ are going to be in order for me to do a thorough review. Welcome to Silver Spring! And, even better...they deliver to my house. Guhbye hohum chain Pizzerias. Hello Pete's ah-Beetz!

Congratulations! *You have won* A sangry, repressed, dry, neglected, starved for cheese microscopically challenged no sauce pity pete pizza.* You are cut off forever!! till i'm floating above you, dropping hails of ice into your vents, dripping my ghosty water all over your future crusty bread caps, you serve as pizza.
(1)Etienne R.
The service and the crust were good. That's about it. We ordered a New Haven and a Margarita with anchovy. The New Haven - a white pizza with rubber seafood components and no garlic flavor. I spat out the rubber. The Margarita with anchovy was an insult to my mouth. Sweet, yet otherwise flavorless tomato sauce, too little cheese and the biggest let-down in pickled/marinated anchovies. Not the salty bites of heaven one would like. Instead of the salty, umami-filled, bites of pizza I was hoping for these guys put fishy pieces of anchovy on their pizza. The anchovy was not at all what I expected and is not a match for pizza. Who wants briny fish flavored pizza ? I realize anchovy haters are wondering if I'm a bit dim by now but look at it from the anchovy lovers perspective would'ya ? Oh, the price is outrageous. Never catch me back there.

I ordered ahead and called for pickup last night. I didnt realize that i actually called the friendship heights location till I arrived 10 min later. I called and cancelled and there were no issues at all and they were really understanding. Last night i got the nighthawk pizza and while we waited we got the risotto balls. The risotto balls were amazing! However, the pizza was a little bit dryer and the crust wasnt as thick or fluffy as last time. The pizza was still tasty but I definitelt noticed it wasnt as great as last time. We ordered a couple beers while we waited and they brought our pick up items to us. So i would say 4 stars for service and 4 stars for risotto balls and 3 stars for the pizza this time. Im still going to come back and maybe try something else?
(4)Koral S.
I'm def a fan and am happy they have come to Silver Spring ... to save the pizza situation out here! This is now my Go - To for pizza around the way. I really like their selections - The Nighthawk is just amazing. I also love their meatballs ... so a simple meatballs and pepper did the job one night. Their regular cheese slice is also very good. I like that they have other things, as well. Had the spinach salad which was super tasty and all their dessert options look tempting. An added bonus - the Cane Sugar Soda Fountain ... with Orange!
(4)Opie M.
I had a very nice Thin crust half pepperoni half "the green" vegetable pizza, Mixing lemonade and black cherry soda was a plus, Adding ice tea to the mix was even better. Lots of oil on top of this pepperoni pizza, Started sopping it up with paper towels, Seems like the same amount oil you would get at Lido's with their extra thick pepperoni. This is interesting, a typo on their pizza box. You would think the printer would use the artwork sent them, Or did they for some reason re-create it with the typo. I'm wondering How this happened. I'm sure I would be teased for the rest of my life for something like this. They have a very good selection of beer on tap, They sure got that right.
(4)Scott B.
This was the best Pizza I've had in the D.C. area. We will definitely be back.
(5)Meredith L.
Ask for your receipt. Then look to see if they charged you a liquor tax. Even though we pointed out the error to them last week, they still haven't fixed the problem. So basically, they're stealing a dollar from every single order. (I guess they're taking a slice out their customers when the customers go to get a slice.)
(1)Dee J.
Welcome to Silver Spring, Pete's! I'm a patron/fan of their Columbia Hts spot but this location is closer to home. Today, I finally tried their signature clam pizza. I didn't think I'd like it but, OMG, IT WAS DELICIOUS. Definitely a game changer for me. The bottom line is this: Pete's serves GROWN FOLK'S PIZZA! In other words, fresh ingredients that are best enjoyed over good conversation and a glass of wine. Can't wait to go back for another slice of clam. YUM-O :) p.s. - The Lavender Blossom and Strawberry Rhubarb gelatos were heavenly.
(5)Eliot F.
Enjoyed a large pizza of my own selection, with roasted garlic cloves, sliced kitchen made meatballs, pineapple, some fresh herbs. The joy of having pizza with fresh and locally sourced ingredients is a rarity here. A few unusual yet tasteful selections were at the soda machine, such as blackberry and lemon-lime. Music in background was very good, not overpowering and created a good vibe. Happily surprised to find the bathroom was also wired for sound, and clearer in there, as one might hope. Staff were very courteous, and if multitasking still greeted folks coming in and gave them their attention quickly. I will be going back again. Obviously, some loving care is going on behind the scene to make the pizza a notch above the rest.
(5)Robert V.
Pete's is a sitdown semi-self serve pizza restaurant. It focuses on gourmet style pizzas with a relatively thin crust. They are of a decent size, although a little on the pricey side. Pete's makes them a bit too salty for my personal taste. The crust is crispy but can be a bit too dry. Overall, not a bad choice for local pizza in Silver Spring but still could be improved.
(3)Eric L.
Their pizza here is fantastic. Ingredients from local farms and made with care. Their minced garlic, pepperoni and sausage pizza is as good as it gets. The margherita pizza and caesar salad is also top shelf. Don't forget to enjoy their desserts. This is one of the best pizza places in the DC area.
(5)Paul Z.
I would love to give this place five stars as the pizza itself is undoubtedly the best in the area. However, they are repeatedly late delivering the pizza. The next time my pizza arrives hotter than lukewarm will be the first. I often get the "traffic" excuse, even on nights where there is much less traffic than usual. They have also completely forgotten parts of orders. So my recommendation would be to eat in.
(2)Mark L.
Nice pizza and decent ambiance. We've been here 3 times and it's always tasty - not the absolute greatest, but way above average. Good for kids and easy to find seating.
(4)Allie A.
I came here to meet up with some friends from college and got a 14" pizza with tomatoes. They bring it out and before I can even look at the pizza they say "We know it's more burnt than normal, so we are putting another pizza in for you now!". The burned pizza was still super delicious and we ate it all but it was still a really wonderful gesture of proactive customer service. I'll definitely be back for the wonderful service and delicious pizza!
(4)Jessica D.
We came here in search of a pizza place. It was average, in my opinion nothing special. But I would recommend to anyone who likes pizza. The workers were nice and it had a nice interior. (:
(3)KD T.
Edge of the woods rules the day and night! And the fried goat cheese salad rocks my socks off my feet, back on, then off again every time.
(5)Thomas R.
This Is A Vegetarian Review I love this place. I do like Flippin Pizza, and it is closer to our house, and it has good by-the-slice. But Pete's actual pizza is just better. I usually get two slices of cheese instead of the fancier veggie pizzas. Something Pete's does to their cheese pizza -- some unusually flavorful seasoning or something, I'm honestly not sure -- is unique and gives it a... je ne sais quai... that I just haven't encountered elsewhere. And you can get cheap wine on weekdays until 6:30 pm during their happy hour, and they have good (though smaller-portioned that I expected) gelato. If you want to go get some slices for a good price, or a fancy pizza to take home, this place can't be beat.

I'm from CT, so when I heard that there's a 'New-Haven' style pizza shop coming to Silver Spring I was overjoyed. Up north we are a bit elitist about our pizza, i.e. never each from a chain restaurant. Pete's offered a groupon today so, I had lunch at the restaurant and it was phenomenal! I had the spavo pizza, without the onions, and it was heavenly! It comes with whole roasted garlic cloves on the pizza that melt in your mouth and adds a fabulous burst of flavor with each bite. Normally, if I knew it had whole roasted garlic cloves I would have asked for them to be removed. I'm soooo glad that I didn't. The pizza wasn't too greasy and it was very flavorful. Pure perfection. Finally, people in the DMV get to experience what pizza is SUPPOSED to taste like. Mid bite of my second slice I picked up my iPhone and my friend and I ordered two more groupons for Pete's. No doubt that I'll be back. I got there just before the lunch rush at 11:30 and people where swarming in. Pretty surprising for a Wednesday. I can't imagine how the weekends must be for them. This is such a welcomed addition to the area. I wish you good luck and much success. Suggestions. Change your lunch deal. I usually have my pizza lunches from Pizzeria Da Marco in Bethesda, which also offers Neapolitan pizza and has an awesome lunch special (a choice of salad, margherita-classica or marinara pizza, and a drink for $11.95). That sounds a lot more appealing than your mere two slices of cheese pizza and a drink for $5 that you are offering. Get hand towels for the bathroom. You have the one of those hand dryer machines, which is great, but since you can only exit the bathroom by pulling the handle it's unsanitary. Not everyone washes their hands, so the last thing I want to do is touch that handle or grab toilet paper to open the bathroom door. Also, I was ecstatic that you offered delivery, but super disappointed in the area that you chose to cover. I live in the Aspen Hill/ Layhill area of Silver Spring and it isn't covered in your service area. I used to live in White Oak section of Silver Spring and that isn't covered either. Living here I noticed that there aren't many decent pizza restaurants that deliver in Silver Spring, so by you excluding major chunks of the city you are missing out of a massive pool of potential customers. Every day I see the Papa Johns and Dominoes delivery cars in my neighborhood, so I know that there is an immediate market. What's worse is that you chose to cover part of DC instead, which seems weird because DC is already saturated with restaurants and Silver Spring is such an under-utilized market.

I've been to other Pete's locations and already knew I loved the menu: lots of vegan options, great prices, amazing chewy crust. And I'm a hard one to please with pizza. But I just had the most fantastic customer service experience here at Silver Spring. The fella at the take out counter was so polite and seriously informed about the menu. Made vegan recommendations, and even let me know I could do half and half if I couldn't decide. I grabbed a glass of wine while I waited and a few minutes later the chef came out and called my name, letting me know that there was a mix up and half our pizza got cow cheese and not vegan cheese. They offered me another glass of wine AND a dessert for the extra wait. These guys have such a professional operation. Love having them in the neighborhood!

The pizza I had at Pete's was decidedly mediocre. Given the many options in the area, I'm unlikely to go back. I went to Pete's in Silver Spring given the buzz that surrounded its opening. I found the crust to be kind-of hard without being crisp. The sauce didn't have much flavor, the cheese topping was sparse and greasy, and the pizza overall was a bit salty. My wife had a pasta dish that was alright, nothing special. By contrast, the side salad I had was pretty good, just a bit too much dressing. The strawberry-rhubarb gelato my wife got was very good but the cannolis my kids had were so-so. There's limited service: You order at a counter and your food is brought to your table. The server didn't clear the empty salad bowls when he brought the pizza, and we had to move our plates and the pizza pan to another table ourselves, when we were done, in order to have space to eat our desserts. Roscoe's nearby in Takoma Park is much better, and I've been meaning to try Pacci's in Silver Spring. Try either of them for higher-end pizza. Skip Pete's.
(2)John S.
I've eaten at Pete's a few times, and always loved the food...this time I ate in while participating in a fund raiser for my children's school...First let me say that the staff were fantastic - Nelson was on top of things when setting up the fund raiser = they even offered an exception to their dine in only rule and let us have one take out order for the teachers' at lunch...As always, the food was fantastic - we usually love the Merritt Parkway. For those of you who may be taken a little bit aback by the prices, let me chime in as others have said - you know you are getting fresh ingredients and you know they will be good. I will be coming back to Pete's again on my own and I look forward to setting up another event for the kids school in the future!
(5)Kolomya K.
Ex-Noo Yawkers down here for 30 years, and we finally found a pie that equals anything up north. In fact, we pretty much figured we were doomed to incompetent pizzarias. Well, we were wrong. Pete's rocks! Ordered a simple tomato/cheese pie, and ate it on the premises. Loved every bite. Wish they'd come up to Rockville; this is real pizza wasteland. Will definitely go back when we are in Silver Spring.
(4)Susan E.
The pizza at Pete's New Haven Style is good if not outstanding--definitely worth three stars. I will definitely try it again when I'm in the neighborhood. But my daughter and I went into the shop shortly after it opened and the place was virtually empty. The man behind the counter assigned us the worst table in the place at a picture window overlooking two dumpsters in the alley. It took me a while to realize we should have asked for a different table, but when the pizza arrived I felt sick looking at the dumpsters and didn't enjoy my meal. Why on earth would the service person send us to the corner when we were almost the only customers in his restaurant? I suggest better training for the staff. There are plenty of excellent pizza parlors in Silver Spring, and if this one is to survive, customer service had better rule supreme.
(2)Chi Z.
I'd say 3.5 stars only because they are still figuring things out with service/ordering but taste deserves 4 stars. We got the Wooster! I'm a fan of broccoli rabe, my boyfriend, not so much, however we both enjoyed the Wooster Pizza (Sautéed Broccoli Rabe, Hot Sausage, Milano Salami, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Parmigiano-Reggiano). We even had some left over slices in the morning cold and they were just as tasty. We tried a slice of the Night hawk-meh just ok, but then again anything with chicken as the main protein is just ok. :-) They also have gelato...Tried Honey Blossoms, it was sweet and floral (just like the name) if you like Earl Grey tea, I think you'll enjoy this flavor, I did. Still, Pete's in Silver Spring deserves the 4 stars since we are partial to anything we can walk to.

This is hand's down the most delicious pizza you'll get in Silver Spring, and perhaps even the entire DC metropolitan area. Yes, it is that good, and yes, it beats Manny & Olgas if you are considering ordering a pizza for delivery. Unlike Manny & Olga's, Pete's is also a great place to dine in- it's located right in downtown Silver Spring; it is very large, spacious, and clean; and it offers a pretty good selection of beers in bottle or on draft, wines, desserts, and gelatos. I used to frequent the Pete's in Columbia Heights, and have been to this new store in Silver Spring a couple of times already, so I am pretty familiar with the food already. I've never been to New Haven, so I couldn't really say how "authentic" the pizza is, but I do know that it is pretty darn good. The pies are perfect- neither too thick nor too tin, just the way I like it- and the ingredients always taste fresh and of good quality, including the dough (from what I understand, they make their own dough fresh), and the cheese doesn't taste processed, unlike Pizza Hut and Dominos. The last time I had Pete's I ordered a pie with prosciutto and red pepper, and it was seriously one of the most delicious pies I have ever tried. Usually I just go into the store and get a slice of plain ol' pepperoni pizza, and even that is better than any pizza I've tried from any other business. Other than that, I haven't really tried their signature pies, but they look pretty interesting and creative. The salads are also delicious- I would recommend the Crispy Goat Cheese Salad and the Bibb and Artichoke Salad. The pastas are admittedly very hit or miss. The only one I would really recommend is the Pesto Linguine, and even then I would still say it is definitely much more worth it to get pizza instead. Nonetheless, this place still gets a full five stars from me precisely because the pizza is some of the best I've had in my life!
(5)Michael A.
Two years later, the pizza-by-the-slice is still a bit stale, but crispy, and the assigned-seating policy is a bit more flexible: The cashier will usually (not always) ask the customer to choose table or booth, then assign a specific seat based on the choice.
(2)Marisa B.
I grew up eating NY-style and Sicilian-style pizza. I've had pizza at Pete's four times now. The first was decent, but the last 3 times my over-priced, $20 cheese pizzas have all been burned. I'm not one to complain, but com'on--pizza is not that difficult to make properly as long as you have the proper ingredients (and Pete's ingredients are just average) and cook it at a proper temperature for the correct amount of time. This place primarily serves pizza, so you'd imagine they would have already mastered these basics. Nevertheless, I'll stick with Mama Lucia's when I crave something resembling pizza from Italian-Americans back home.
(1)A S.
The flavors of our pizza blended well, but the crust was severely burned, as in completely black and horribly bitter in many places. The delivery time was an average 45 minutes, but the pizza was delivered room-temperature and we had to microwave it before eating. Considering we live about a 3 minute dive from the place, I would have expected our food delivered hot or at least warm.
(2)Helen X.
We came here for lunch today and had an overall good experience with the following notes: 1. ordered a cesar salad - taste was good, it was not over dressed and the cheese and croutons were both very delicious 2. ordered the calamari because it was displayed in the glass counter - the seafood itself was excellent. They did not over fry the seafood and the quality of the calamari was very good. It was salty because of the "gravy" or dressing that was drizzled all over and it had an tapenade on top as well. It was just too much all together. But we ate it all. 3. We ordered the new haven style pizza. The 18" pizza is huge, we were a little shocked how big it was. My fiance and I couldn't finish half because we were so full. Next time, we're definitely sharing the 14". The taste of the pizza was good. I usually don't like clams on my pizza just because it's never done right and it was done well here. The only thing is that our clams were sandy and the pizza was a bit too salty as well. Both my fiance and I had pieces of clams that were sandy and not clean properly. It wasn't all the clams, just a couple here and there so I think quality control needs to be monitored more since it is the signature pizza and all the new customer will likely start with their signature pie. I took two stars off because of that even though the service was great and the management were walking around asking people how they were (super friendly), I felt that food should be judged first aside from service, that's why I rated them A-OK (with plenty room to grow I hope!). SO I will say that we will probably be back because they also had a hefty dessert section (house made according to our server) and gelato section that we didn't have room in our stomach to try. I had water this time (2 cups of it) and next time, I'll be going there to try their fancy soda machine, with all the interesting flavors like blood orange (one of my favorite flavors of all time). Oh my fiance had the Monumental IPA and it was absolutely DELICIOUS.
(3)Suzanne R.
Very good, chewy crust pizza. Coal oven makes a difference. Thin crust. Large variety of food. service really pretty good. Not wide open but moveable chairs and tables so very much accommodating to a wheelchair or walker. NOT greasy at all! Not big slices at all! It's good!
(4)Kristina K.
Although I was excited to try a new pizza delivery place in the neighborhood, Pete's was a huge disappointment. Both of the pies we tried (Metro North and The Game) were really greasy and, at $25 a pop, there is really no reason to return. Granted, a return look at the menu indicates that most of Pete's pizzas--including the ones we got--have olive oil among the list of toppings but who knew this would mean soggin' quantities?! I'm not impressed.
(2)Corine H.
I've since tried this location via take-out and delivery. They do a nice job. I am increasingly considering it a go-to pizza spot, particularly given that they offer a gluten-free option.
(3)Andrew T.
I hope people can find this place as it isn't really in the thick of things in downtown Silver Spring. I happened to stumble across it and so glad I did! The pizza was awesome and my Caesar salad was amazing with Parmesan crisps and garlic croutons. Mmmm. I will most definitely make Pete's a regular spot to eat.
(4)Anice S.
Can't say enough about these guys. We've been several times with 3-4 moms and babies in strollers around 1pm on weekdays. The welcome has been fantastic. We've felt comfortable to be there with our babies, hang out... staff has even asked if we wanted refills on our drinks (usually self-service) because they can see how challenging it sometimes is to eat and handle a baby. This morning was the best, though... at around 11 on a saturday, we had a reunion of 8 moms with babies ranging from 5 to 10 months. The owner said, "we love it when you guys invade!" I know this may not be a resounding review for folks who are looking for a quiet place... but families, please know that you will be welcome, which goes a really long way. There are plenty of high chairs and booster seats and changing tables in the bathrooms. Plus, the food is super yum. The spinach olivada salad is a favorite... and it turns out my son, just starting on solids, couldn't get enough of the oven roasted tomatoes that come on top. Definitely a favorite.
(5)Constance C.
Couldn't be happier to have it in the neighborhood. It's way more spacious than the original Columbia Heights location, which makes it ideal for family meals and big groups. The pies are fresh and tasty. We usually get Down-the-Hill to please the carnivore in our family but I really liked a veggie white pie with caramelized onions we got once. Last week we got a double mushroom, which was awesome. Also, I love Puck's sodas and making my own Arnold Palmer.
(4)Jenn P.
Yummy yummy in my tummy!!!! Fantastic! The pizza reminds me of being home (the northeast) without being home. The staff was friendly, I was completely satisfied. I can't wait to return!!!!!

Fantastic place. Very modern style inside, food was amazing. Best pizza I have had in a while.

3 Months later and they are still going strong with great food and service. It's a keeper!

I grew up in New Haven, and thus have enjoyed Pepe's and Sally's many times; both have been in New Haven forever, and they are simply the best! so, I was hopeful, when I first tried the new Pete's in Silver Spring earlier this year.... have been there 4 times now..so, it is good pizza indeed, among the very best I have had around DC..... on the negative side, it is expensive, and the service is indifferent , to put it nicely. In each instance, I was there in off-hours... not busy at all, but after bringing my pizza to my table, not once did any staff or manager come by again...if they had been interested enough to do so, there was plenty of time. This indifference would never - never - happen in New Haven... so, they are clearly missing New Haven style customer care, which is a surprise, and disappointing. I hope they will get their act together...I want to be able to rave about the place, but am hesitant to take friends there unless I see better service soon.
(4)Tara G.
Great place, great food and easy. Good for kids. The pizza was excellent, we like places with quick service since we have a toddler. We will be back!
(4)Anita W.
I tried to like this place, but I just don't. I went once alone and once with my family. They don't have a personal-size pizza option, which is inconvenient since various members of my family want different, custom pizzas. The smallest is a medium - 14" - 8 slices, unless you order gluten free. If you have a 12" pan for the gluten free, why not just use it for anyone who wants a small? They go extremely light on the pizza sauce, and the sauce is very bland, the fresh lemonade doesn't taste good, and they use the gloppy, thick version of balsamic vinaigrette on their salad that I find utterly disgusting. (It coats every leaf and drowns the salad - yuck!) They also burned the pizza one of the times I went. The only part any of us liked was the soda and the soy cheese, and that's not enough to get me to go back regularly. The soy cheese here is MUCH better than at Z Pizza, and they do over lots of non-vegan pizza by the slice, if that's your thing.

So, so, so, so happy that I can finally get some good delivery pizza in the Takoma/Takoma Park/Silver Spring area!!! Pete's is pricey but worth it, and the pizza is ginormous, which makes up for the cost. I'm not really sure what makes New Haven style pizza different than 'thin crust,' but I enjoyed whatever NH style is, although the pizza suffered a bit from the delivery trip. Looking forward to eating in so I can see how these pies are when they're fresh!

Prior to trying Pete's, I had never had New Haven style pizza, so I'm not sure how much of the taste, texture, and presentation can be attributed to Pete's in particular versus New Haven style pizza in general. That all being said, I thought the pizza was good, but there was definitely room for improvement. I ordered takeout and appreciated the fact that Pete's makes the process as easy as possible. The staff member was very helpful in providing guidance on the various menu items. And pickup wasn't a hassle at all--though they do try to tempt you with all the desserts right there at the register! We ordered the Elm City and The Green. Both had thin yet chewy crusts (perhaps too chewy). The best part of both pies, in my opinion, was the excellent selection of toppings. I'm a huge fan of artichoke hearts on pizza (such as The Green) which add a great "firm but not hard" texture to the pizza, as well as some different flavors. And the plump, juicy, slow roasted tomatoes were definitely not your ordinary "pizza tomatoes" that become a mushy mess. The chicken on the Elm City was another great topping--not overly seasoned so as to let the flavors of the cheese and other toppings shine through. Unfortunately, this didn't happen as it was way too heavy on the garlic and caramelized onions, which dominated the other flavors. Disappointing since Fontina cheese is great on its own. To top it all off, I found both of them (and especially the Elm City) to be overly greasy, seeping through the crust all the way to the pizza box. In addition to the pizza, we felt like we HAD to get the Arancini (crispy rice balls filled with risotto this month) after hearing such rave reviews. By themselves, the Arancini were a bit on the bland side, but the sauce piperade (spicy marinara-style sauce with paprika, fennel, garlic, and bell peppers) was overpowering. I wouldn't order them again. I would probably come back to Pete's for another one of their uniquely topped pizzas if it weren't so greasy. And they appear to have an excellent selection of cookies for dessert--including gluten-free varieties--that I have to try.

Food (5): Hands down, my vote for best pizza in DTSS. Five slices: Cheese: solid Pepperoni: very tasty pepperoni--not sure if it's house made but it's not too spicy/salty Chef's Choice: chicken, pesto, caramelized onion---the pesto makes it a winner. Sausage: just like the pepperoni, it might be house made or locally sourced...good mix. White clam: I've never had this combo before, it might be a new favorite--give it a try. Arancini: fried rice balls w/ veggie inside on spicy marinara; worth the trip alone! Service (4.5): Order at the counter, you get a number and food is dropped at your table. Our food trickled out over the course of five minutes which was fine because we shared everything. You don't have to clear your own tables so be sure to tip a few bucks at the register. Ambiance (5): Huge amount of seating and logical flow when you enter the door and order. The only odd thing is that you don't pick your own table, it's "assigned" when you order and corresponds to the plastic card you're given at the register.

Some pizzas are good, others are mediocre. Gluten Free crust is ok. Other items are are also hit or miss. Deserts expensive for portion size. With student ID there is a discount after 8p but you wont get it if its 7:50 or 7:55p. Maybe a little better than Zpizza but still looking for a real good rockin pizza joint in town.

Crap. Went there on a Thursday night, since the neighborhood was excited about their arrival. As a point of comparison, I am a fan of 2 Amy's pizza. Had two pizzas. Both were greasy, overcooked, hard, too salty. They tasted almost lie reheated pizza that had been cooked before. Very unsatisfying after. They have custom sodas, I tried the lemon-lime. Cloying. Had the calamari. Ok, but quite greasy, and way too much panko to calamari. Gazpacho was the worst I've had for a while, and much too spicy. It was more like a cold sauce than a refreshing summer drink. And why is it in a bowl, and not a glass?

Maybe I am just not a fan of the new haven crust.... tastes like I tried warming a stale bread stick in my toaster and over toasted until lightly charred. Pete's is pricy for what you get. Not as bad as Pacci's down the street (where you pay for crust and no toppings) but pretty close. They charged me for a substitution (ricotta cheese instead of olives), which I wasn't expecting. For a $30 large pizza, I hoped to taste the freshness of the toppings. Next time, it really won't be delivery from Pete's. It will be DiGiorno.
(2)Bex G.
I liked the pizza but they mixed up our tables and I had to go up and ask for plates. The soda was great and the beer options pleased us beer snobs. The gelato looked great but I was too full to try it.
(4)Andrew T.
the best pizza in the area. Fresh, made with quality ingredients, and worth every penny. The fact that have several good beers on tap and desserts a plus. only pizzeria you can go to in Silver Spring and not feel gross after leaving.

I grew up in CT eating Pepes pizza almost every Friday night. I then lived in NYC for a decade before moving to DC. Needless to say, i was deeply disappointed by the pizza market when I first got here. I discovered Petes in Columbia Heights circa 2009 and, where it was good, it was not spot-on, and it was WAY too expensive. I mean, its pizza people... The Pete's in Silverspring, however, is better. Much better. Pretty darn close to the pizza I remember as a child. And the Monday Madness deal is off the hook (half price pizzas). I even tried the arugula pizza, which goes against all my pizza-purist sensibilities ( my wife's idea). It was amazing! I even liked the beer selection! Go here. Eat Pizza. Be happy. UPDATE: I need to update this review. I have been reading some of the negative reviews here, and its clearly people who do not know ANYTHING about pizza. Someone actually was upset that they did not have a personal pan pizza option... Seriously? You want pizza hut. Thats like asking for A-1 at a steak house. Or Chicken McNuggets at a Peruvian chicken joint. I implore you to read the negative reviews and, then, write them off, and go eat at Pete's. Unless you want Pizza Hut. Then go there and save the good stuff for the rest of us.

Very disappointing delivery service. My wife and I have eaten in at the restaurant twice and had good experiences but the reason I'm posting 2 stars is because of the sad delivery service we experienced. We placed an order for a pizza and panini at 7pm. We were told the delivery time would be 45 min to 50 min. The pizza showed up at 8:20 but no panini. The delivery guy apologized and said they would return with the panini. By 9pm we still had not received a phone call or panini. I phoned the restaurant to see what the deal was and they said they were working on it (still???). We canceled the remainder of the order and don't plan on ordering from them again.

Looked for a pizza place to eat as my friends come into town a lot and we want something quick to eat. Other pizza places in this town do not compare to this at all! Service was quick and friendly. Something that is unique about this restaurant is the all natural soda selection. I went for the "vanilla creme" and wow it was incredible. I might just have to go back here just for that haha. I ordered two slices and the flavor was amazing!! I would definitely recommend to anyone in town looking for something quick (20 min in and out). I gave only four stars because the whole place was a bit smokey smelling and that may have been to a kitchen malfunction but I'll update my review after my second visit for sure!!
(4)Stacey M.
Love me some Petes! Other reviewers have complained about the rigidity of being assigned a seat and the lack of customer service. Not in my experience, and I've been here a lot. So the person at the register gives you a number for the table, and so you don't like it. Just politely ask for another table, folks. Everyone who works here has been nothing but polite and enthusiastic and accommodating. Happy hour drinks and 1/2 off pizza Mondays are where it's at.
(5)D T.
Disappointing. Pizza was quite over done. Toppings were very sparse. Expensive. Delivery was fast, though.
(2)M H.
I frequent the Clarendon location and was excited to see this new location. The decor and size are very nice. The pizza was great and true to Pete's recipe! The only downside was the service. Dealt with 2 employees and both were less than friendly.
(4)J G.
I've visited the restaurant AND ordered delivery. Each time the pizza was salty and greasy. It hurts my CT-native heart to say that it's not going to work out between me and Pete's.
(2)Adam P.
Maybe I'm missing something but this place really shouldn't be able to sell itself as anything but overpriced, poorly cooked and underwhelming pizza. Aside from the fact my pizza was deliver some 60 minutes after the quoted delivery time, this pizza underperformed from the first bite. When I think of New Haven style pizza I think of robust sauce, crust that crunches and a cacophony of flavors. Instead, my Pete's experience was a total disappointment. The pizza arrived luke-warm, the cheese had taken on a rubbery texture and the sauce was non-existent. Even after re-warming my pie, there was a complete absence of flavor and the little bit of meat on the pizza had absolutely no flavor. I don't mind the occasional delay when ordering pizza but to be so fundamentally disappointed on every level is a rare occasion. My money and time would have been better served by cooking a frozen pizza or ordering from Dominos. A complete disappointment, I will not ever consider ordering from Pete's again.

Stay away from the gluten-free offerings. After two meals (both takeouts), I am quite disappointed in this new addition to downtown Silver Spring. I tried the gluten- free pizzza (with garlic and caramelized onions) and it was underwhelming, to say the least. The gluten free pizza at ZPizza, close by, is much better. Another time I ordered the gluten free spaghetti and a small spinach salad. The salad ingredients were fine but the little cup of so-called dressing was just about completely devoid of liquid and with a bunch of shredded stuff that looked liked beets. Bottom line was a dry (ugh) salad. But the worst things was the glopped together so-called pasta. It came in two large globs with consistency of soft tofu. I actually had to cut the blobs into chunks to eat it. I called the manager about the pasta and he admitted the cooks are having trouble with the correct way to cook it. At no time during our phone conversation did he offer to make any adjustment to the $15 I paid for the second meal. He did ask me "Is there anything I can do?" after I detailed my complaint, but I believe it's the restaurant's responsibility to make things right, not the customer's.

the best pizza ever you won't find better food anywhere

I am definitely a big fan of Pete's. Here's what I've learned in two years: - Skip the appetizers. They tend to be salty and are pretty much standard fare. - If you come during an off-peak time, you're much better off if you're getting a whole pizza instead of slices. The slices tend to taste old and not nearly as good when they've been sitting around, even if Pete's re-heats them for you. - The sodas aren't very flavorful. I usually just get water LOL. Those little negatives are minor because the pizza is great! If you read my reviews, you'll see I loooove me some meat but I'm currently obsessed with the vegetarian Edge of the Woods pizza. It's ricotta, spinach, caramelized onions, and thinly sliced fried eggplant. It's absolutely out of this world! The combination is delicious, and filling too. The white pizzas (with or without clams) are still faves and are always good. The pizza are expensive compared to delivery chains but they are worth it. Pete's is always on Groupon so keep an eye on that so you can save some cash. I buy 2-3 at a time, go ahead and judge me. The staff is friendly and cheerful overall. Call ahead if you're getting your pizza to-go and it's usually ready when you arrive.

A comedy of errors with a side dish of not caring I had a particularly bad experience at Pete's two nights ago. I ordered a large Cutler to go. Repeated my order twice to the person on the phone. I was told it would take 15 minutes to prepare. I gave them 20 minutes till I arrived. Empty restaurant-maybe two tables full. The only pizza on the carry out rack was mine. And this is where my evening started to go south. I said my order was for a large Cutler. What was waiting for me was a large pizza with peppers (?). Not sure how you get both of those confused. So I repeated my order in person, and was told it would take 10 minutes for a new one to be prepared. I decide to wait. After about 12 minutes a gentleman comes out (assume it is the manager that evening) with a box saying "here is your Cutler's". Except when he opens the box I point out to him that is not a Cutler. He seems surprised (perhaps he should have checked the order before bringing it out), and just spins around and I hear him yell 'C'mon guys.' Last time I interacted with him and I am left to just assume and hope a new pizza will be made. Again, the restaurant is empty and there are no other carry out orders. So I just stand there. Another 15 minutes pass and an employee (not the person I think is the manager, who seemed to do his best not to come out and speak with me) finally brings me the correct pizza. Not once was I offered an apology for the restaurant (on a slow evening and seemingly fully staffed) messing up my order not once but twice. On their website Pete says that they are "Commitment to a superior customer experience." That most certainly did not happen this evening.

My family and I fell in love with Pete's when we found the one located on Connecticut Ave NW. After we moved, we were all ecstatic to find that one opened up in downtown Silver Spring! Pete's has great food, tasty gelato, is extremely family friendly and has great staff. I'm writing this review because I realized I never got around to reviewing one of our favorite haunts! I'm one of those people who try something new almost every visit that I make, and I finally made it in for the Tuesday Pairing special this week. The chef did a great job putting the pizza and beer together! The staff is always very knowledgeable and the manager has created a great atmosphere, and we will be going time and time again!
(5)Lilly N.
Tried this pizza joint for the first time this week and we are hooked! I believe this is a local chain. We tried the pizza with sautéed mushroom, cheese and sautéed onions - minus the chicken. It was pretty good without the chicken! We actually tried it with a groupon and it was a really good deal. There's also gelato in the restaurant inside - a must try!
(5)Gail B.
The restaurant is conveniently located in downtown Silver Spring. The employees are nice and don't rush the ordering process. This location brings your order to a table (of your choice). There is even a customer loyalty application you can download to earn free and discounted items. I had the Margarita pizza. The portion was large and the prices are decent. The pizza would have been better if it had been cooked a minute or two longer. The chef stopped by my table to ask how we were doing. I explained that the pizza was a bit "soupy" and received an explanation on the cooking process of the cheeses and not an offer to cook it a tiny bit longer. The house salad was good.

My friend really raved about this place. I was unfortunately disappointed..I was in a hurry and just ordered the chef special. It contained all the good stuff you'd hope for in a pizza (sausage, peppers, that you xtra something) but it was all out together in a haphazard fashion.

What started out as a lazy night when cooking just wasn't going to happen turned into a gold-mine of a find. Pizza is soooo much better on this side of the country --California take note. Didn't want Dominoes or Papa (I gotta go to the) John's, so we turned to you great Yelpers to steer us in the right direction. Well done! The menu is great. Just give the specials a read and see what I mean. Straight Gourmet (the "t" is not silent, people, this is 'Merica!) Ordered the Metro North and half/half Nighthawk and Q Bridge. Surely these are New Haven, CT references that are lost on me, but the pizzas were ALL fantastic. Went to pick it up and they have sorbet and gelato I couldn't pass up, either. Looks like a great place to dine in, and it's smack dab in the center of Silver Spring, too. But what's even cooler than that is this: Turns out our house is one house away from their delivery zone. Literally, one house away; my backyard neighbor could order delivery. Hence why I picked up this pizza on a lazy night when I couldn't motivate myself to cook. When the store realized they couldn't deliver, and how close I was to the zone, they did the best they could without breaking protocol to compensate if I were to come in anyway. They gave me a generous discount! I used that discount for the sorbet and gelato, and of course didn't skimp on the tip, so it worked out for everyone. Wife and I will definitely be back here, dining in or picking up (or convincing one of our neighbors to let us use their address for delivery haha). I want to try ALL their pies. So now here's what you all do. Go out and get only Pete's New Haven Style Apizza, particularly if you live outside of their zone. With enough business, hopefully they'll be able to hire more drivers and expand that delivery zone at least one more house!

Metro North Pizza $26 (5/5 NOMs) Taking a cheese train up north at Down Town Silver Spring's top pizza place, right next to DC. Its the double pork over cheesy pizza goodness! Crispy thing crust pizza comes with slow roasted pork, pancetta (aka BACON!), ricotta and caramelized onions. Taste buds will be having a party with every bite. You could really taste every single toppings. Only thing we did alter it by adding some mushrooms. It was good choice! This is our new favorite order at Pete's. So far nothing beats this amazing white pizza. It will satisfy any white pizza fan out there. Napoletana Pizza $26 (4/5 NOMs) Lets catch some pizza anchovies. Get ready to bite into a pizza with a very strong flavor. Olives, garlic and anchovies create an interesting salty flavor. Its like its too salty, but then its not. My taste buds were very confused and intrigued, they wanted more. So light on the sauce combined with thing crust and you can actually taste all the toppings. Rare thing for red pizza. Big plus for me since I am not a big fan of tomato sauce. We went for the massive large pie, because its go fat or go home. So big that even two of us could barely finish half. Next time make sure to bring some extra hungry help. Defiantly a must try pizza for all those who like weird and strange flavors. Elm City $19 (4/5 NOMs) Time to take the train to cheezer city. We picked the one that has the most stuffed packed into it and went to town on it lol. They really pack a ton of stuff on without making it cause pizza come. Topped with goodies like Fontina (Italian cow's milk) cheese, grilled chicken, sauteed mushrooms and caramelized onions. Crust was top notch, very thing and light. Made all the toppings and cheese flavors to come through. Love the big hunks of mushrooms, made it shroomy goodness. That is one big pizza, we had trouble finishing even smaller size one. Kind of wish this pizza wasn't as oily, tilt to the side and nice stream of oil dips to your place. Lucky it didn't taste as oily as it looked so aside needed from extra napkins it was all good. The number they give you is associated with the table you should sit at. Not something they explained or marked anywhere and we were extremely confused by numbers, numbers are scary! Aside from scary numbers its a must try pizza place, its our new white pizza to go place.
(4)Libby F.
My favorite: Elm City. However, I get it without the chicken and double the mushrooms. It is delicious! Now Pete's has started making individual-sized 9" pizzas started at $7.99. I still prefer leftovers though. Maybe for happy hour next time! Also... Pete's participates with the app front/flip where you can win discounts or a free 18" pizza with a virtual scratch off. I got half off my calamari! $4.00!

We were staying in a hotel in Silver Spring and wanted pizza delivered. We found this place on Yelp and saw it was a few blocks from our hotel. We decided to give it a try and have it delivered. Unfortunately, it took about an hour and a half to get it delivered, and when it finally arrived, it was completely burned and was almost inedible. On their website, I found a feedback form and let them know. They called the next day and offered to give us another pizza free that night. The guy on the phone said I could come by and pick it up in a half hour or so, but if I wanted it delivered again, I'd have to wait a couple of hours! When it finally arrived, it wasn't burnt, but just the whole experience with them really turned me off.

There are few times when you go out to eat and get MORE than you expected! The Staven pizza delivers a meaty power punch, I chose to pair with a Derecha pint:) come check this little gem out in the heart of SS!!
(5)Michele G.
You know, as much as I like the pizza they make, they have trouble actually getting orders right. Every time we order, we specifically say "NO CHEESE" several times to make sure they don't add any dairy. Well, this is now the second time within maybe six orders that they screwed it up again. The person at the counter actually had the audacity to say over and over the parmesan they put on the pizza was minced garlic. Well, it wasn't. I am really sick of people just not doing their jobs. For this reason, they get one star from me. To get another would have taken about 45 minutes to an hour, so once again, they screwed up my evening.
(1)Kris L.
Picked up a very large cheese pizza to go. Service was prompt. The pizza itself was really really good. I've had pizza in New Haven and it was not typical for that style. However, I live in Baltimore currently and it beats any pizza here. The crust is chewy and thick, the sauce was herby and the cheese was fresh and light. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area!
(4)E A.
I was feeling a pizza night, and a friend had recommended Pete's. I ordered the Metro North pizza and the Nighthawk pizza. Both were absolutely delicious. The Metro North was a little on the dry side, but the ricotta cheese, caramelized onions, and amazing pork more than made up for it. The Nighthawk was equally great, although I could have done with a little more basil in the pesto sauce. Will definitely be going back.
(4)Nick S.
Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes. The only bad things about Pete's is that there are more options than I'm able to eat, and that my wife won't let me get the Shrimp White Pizza. Everything I've ever had here (about 6 different types of pizza) has been every bit as good as the last slice I had in New Haven. I recommend The Game, or The Staven, both really good spicy pies, or any of their white pizzas. Dessert comes in the form of house-made gelato/sorbetto, of which I recommend the Salted Caramel (if it's not already sold out). The Puck's fountain sodas are awesome as well, if you're into soda. Hell, I'm not and I even like them. All in all, worth a stop if you're looking for apizza in Silver Spring.
(5)Charlie G.
Pizza was ok. Ordered take out and wasn't till I got home I remembered I didn't get the connoli I ordered. Called back and went to pick it up. The filling was horrible. All salt no sugar! Never again.
(1)Rachel E.
This place was nice. Oddly when I went, it was empty save for one table. They assigned me a table that wasn't wiped down. I went ahead and did that myself with a napkin. Otherwise, had a slice of the clam pizza which was great. Could have used a bit more of the clams, but otherwise pretty decent. Loved the soda selection and liked hearing the staff sing along with the good radio songs they had on. It's nice to see people enjoy where they work.
(4)Robert R.
I have been to all the Pete's locations and like this one the best. First it's nice large size, large garage next-door to park at. On Fridays for happy hour they give the kids fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. The pizza crust is alway crunchier then other pizzas and toppings are first rate. After pizza they have gelato and other desserts in a large display case. Staff has always been very kid friendly whenever I bring my son with some of his friends.
(4)Christine C.
I would give zero stars if possible. Wanted $25 for a pizza that consisted of chicken and cheese. I could buy a hoagie which had more substance than this for $10. They really need to reevaluate their restaurant and how they sell food. $25 for 12 slices of pie is redic!
(1)Dana J.
OK so this is DEFINITELY my last time at Pete's. I'm not sure what New Haven style pizza is but after my third time being here it must mean burnt. Every time I get a pizza from here it's burnt. Like black crust that tastes black - just burnt! This time I got a black crust pizza and sent it back and the second pizza I got is barely cooked. SO basically I took that as eff you we don't want you to come back and I won't. And I'm telling all my friends!
(2)Nathan C.
Food was great like usual this wasn't my first visit to this location but the experience that I had with the cashier Johnathan was memorable. I thought that Jonathan was very good at assisting me and my girlfriend in making our selection for dinner. He even took the time to give me some relationship advice lol. Can't say that I regularly get that when I'm out getting pizza but it was greatly appreciated.
(5)Joshua S.
The choices and stuff are kinda weird. For example, fried eggplant means like a potato chip, not like eggplant parmesan. Plus, they sometimes overtop and sometimes undertop. I think I paid for a single piece of artichoke on my pizza last night, but there were way too many eggplant chips the time before that. They deserve 3, but got a 4th star because the manager is awesome. He gives free cannoli if you are there around closing time, and was just a good customer servant generally. If they work on the pizza, and give me a free calamari to go with my pizza and free cannoli, they'll definitely get a 5th star.
(4)Charnika P.
I'm not sure what the excitement is about with this place but I found the pizza to be "Meh - Ok." It was nothing too exciting or worth me returning unless I happen to be in the area and nothing else was available. I tried the white pizza with clams. It was somewhat flavorful but I found the pizza to taste dry and old as if it had been sitting out for hours. I know that when you buy by the slice this is usually the case. But I would think it would still have some moisture. Worst off the slice that I received was burnt to a crisp. The one thing I did like was the scanning coupons on the table. Sorry, I really was excited to try this place but was left disappointed.
(2)Walter M.
Expensive for a pizza place that doesn't exceed popular pizza chains. As far as taste goes, it ok, but prepare to pay a few more dollars than you would normally for a popular pizza chain.
(3)Edwin H.
Awesome pizza and cool staff too. Their pizza has excellent flavor. No freezer burn or stale taste in their vegetables, just a nice fresh out of the garden taste. The pizza comes a little toasty, not too burnt, and not too soggy either. I eat here about 1-2 times a week so the staff knows me now. I don't even have to order any more, I just show up to the cash register and they ask me if I'm getting the regular. I've never tasted their beer, so I can't comment on that but I do hear that all the local brews they sell taste great. They also have free WiFi so that's another plus too, just look at the little chalkboard next to the cash register for the password. The only bad thing I can think of is their lack of napkin containers at each table, you need to walk over to the napkin dispenser across the room. btw tell them Julian sent you ;)
(5)Nicole B.
I can no longer order carryout or delivery from here. They've just screwed up my order too many times. Which is a shame, because I really do like their pizza. But I cannot figure out a way to place a delivery order that they don't mess up. Last night, I ordered two pizzas with NO CHEESE. I must have repeated NO CHEESE at least six times and explained that I wanted absolutely no cheese which meant no mozarella, no pecorino, no parmesan and no romano cheese. I listed all possible types of cheese and explicitly said that I did not want any cheese on either pie. The person taking the order told me I wanted a tomato pie in addition to the second gluten-free pizza I ordered. I said fine, as long as there is absolutely no cheese on the pizza. When I came to pick up my pizza, I checked it and said it looked like there was parmesan cheese on the tomato pie. The person behind the counter said no, that's not parmesan, that's the minced garlic topping you ordered. I stupidly didn't taste the pizza at the counter, brought it home, and my wife confirmed that they did in fact put parmesan cheese on her pizza. Really? I get that I ordered pizza and that most people order cheese on their pizza. But Pete's offers gluten-free pizzas and vegan cheese so they obviously cater to a market that: a) has food allergies and b) avoids certain ingredients. This is not Dominos, nor do they charge Dominos pizza prices. This is not the first time they've put cheese on a pizza after being told - multiple times - that I wanted NO CHEESE. I keep trying to give them another chance, thinking that if only I explain my order better they will get it right. No more. I'm done. You've lost a customer.
(1)Paul L.
We always get take out here and never had a bad experience. The parking is a little scarce but this is a great place to get veggie options for pizza.
